Important Facilities Update | Roosevelt Elementary

As staff returns to buildings across our campus, they earlier identified a fungal growth in a hallway and approximately 12 affected classrooms at Roosevelt Elementary. That growth has been sent off for testing. Operations staff and school leadership immediately took action to address the situation. The issue stemmed from the failure of two HVAC "dedicated outside air systems" (DOAS) that were damaged in the hail storm back in April. Those HVAC units were previously identified as units that needed repair and are awaiting replacement parts. The two systems will be repaired and functional before school starts.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to the building and custodial staff, who did a tremendous job stepping up to handle the initial cleaning and containment right away.

To ensure the highest safety standards for our students and staff, Woodard Restoration is now on site. Their team is currently:

- Deep-treating all affected areas and surfaces.
- Applying preventative treatments to inhibit any future growth.
- Conducting comprehensive air quality testing to ensure all rooms are safe before occupancy.

We do not anticipate that this will affect the start of school. We know how eager our teachers are to get into their spaces, but out of an abundance of caution, rooms will remain closed until remediation and testing are complete.

The health and safety of our school community is our top priority. We will share further updates as work progresses. Thank you for your patience and support as we take care of our school!
