🦘 WAIT, IT WAS BRING YOUR ANIMAL TO SCHOOL DAY?? 🐢
Our classrooms were filled with big smiles and happy chirps this morning as the Party Paws Mobile Zoo stopped by Dayse Baker Learning Center! From furry friends to cool scales, our students loved getting up close, learning about different species, and making some unforgettable animal buddies.🐍🦉
We had a lemur, a wallaby (SO CUTE), a boa constrictor (NOT SO CUTE), an owl, a tortoise and a tegu (I'll call it a lizard)! Turns out the owl is famous and is actually in eight movies including The Magnificent Seven (2016) and a number of Netflix specials!
Trainers Jenna and Mike were incredible and so great with the kids. Your energy, patience, and amazing animals made this such an exciting morning!!

👟 PHILLY BOUND! 👟
Big shoutout to Axtin Brune as he heads to Philadelphia tomorrow to compete in the New Balance Nationals! ✈️
Axtin will be leaving it all on the track in the 800-meter run, testing his speed and grit against the absolute best in the country. His time this year of 1:52.83 is the second fastest 800-meter time in all classes in the state of Missouri this year.
On the upcoming event this weekend in Philadelphia, Brune said, "I am very excited to get to compete in a meet like this, it has been the goal for almost two years. I feel like I am in a great spot in my career currently, especially having started the season with a partially torn Achilles and being limited to a low workload. There definitely feels like there is a lot left to go for with more training and time."
Let’s wish him the best of luck as he steps onto the national stage! Bring it home, Axtin!🕒🔥

☀️ And that’s a wrap on Summer Learning Academy! 🎬🎉

A massive thank you to our phenomenal teachers, staff, and parents who made this summer session a roaring success. 🙌📚
Now, it’s time to enjoy the rest of your summer break! Rest up, have fun, and we’ll see you in the fall! 🏖️🍦

While the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863, it wasn’t until June 19, 1865, that Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to ensure all enslaved people finally learned they were free.
Juneteenth reminds us of the resilience, strength, and invaluable contributions of African Americans. It's a day to celebrate how far we’ve come, while recognizing the continuous, collective work required to build a world rooted in true equity and justice.

Who says summer school can't be all fun and games? Yesterday, our amazing students took a break from the classrooms and absolutely crushed Field Day!
Seeing these kids cheer each other on, try their best, and just enjoy being kids was the absolute best part of our week. Huge shoutout to our teachers who made the day a success, and a massive round of applause for our students who brought the hustle and the smiles! 👏

🎨 Creativity is buzzing in the art studio! 🐝✨
As summer school wraps up today for K-8, our talented 5th and 6th graders have been hard at work this week, diving into some seriously cool hands-on projects. We are so proud of their focus and imagination!
Here’s a sneak peek at what they’ve been mastering:
Bumblebee Flower Pots: 🐝
After putting the finishing touches on their textured bee planters, they got a little messy today filling them with dirt! They’re perfectly sized to hold a little spring bloom! 🌸
Hand-Woven Kumihimo bracelets:🧵
Combining patience and vibrant color palettes, they’ve been learning intricate weaving techniques to create beautiful, wearable art.
Swipe through to see our young artists in action and check out their finished masterpieces! 📸👇

Our 4th graders just took "hands-on learning" to a whole new level! For their latest STEM project, they became mechanical engineers and built their very own jumping robots.
From calculating angles to tweaking rubber band tension, these students showed incredible perseverance. There were plenty of trial-and-error moments, but seeing their creations finally take to the air made it worth the effort! 🙌
Talk about taking learning to new heights. 📈 Little engineers, big ideas!
