Last week's Black Knight Insight visit was powered by student voice. Participants spent the day learning directly from students as they showcased their programs and explained what learning looks like at Farmington High School.
From dissecting sheep hearts in BioMed and making wreaths in Floral Design, to hearing from ROTC, Ag, Banking, BKTV, Special Olympics, and Wise Knights Café students, every stop highlighted hands-on, real-world learning. Participants even helped record announcements in the BKTV studio. The day wrapped up with Incubator students pitching business ideas and learning how Transition students gain real-world work experience.
When students lead, their learning speaks for itself. 💛🖤

The Jefferson Elementary Student Ambassadors spent time last week ringing the bell for the St. Francois County United Way, sharing smiles, confidence, and kindness with everyone they met.
These students are great examples of leadership and service, and we’re proud to see them representing their school and our district so well.

We are incredibly grateful to the Heisel family for their generous $1,000 donation in support of our Farmington Robotics program, Team IgKnight 5060.
Robotics provides students with hands-on experience in engineering, coding, teamwork, and problem-solving, but it also comes with high costs, including a $6,300 registration fee, equipment, and travel expenses. Support like this helps remove barriers so students can focus on learning and competing.
Last season, Team IgKnight 5060 had its strongest year yet, finishing 10th out of 45 teams at the St. Louis Regional and advancing to the playoff bracket for the first time in program history.
If you or your business would like to support our robotics team and invest in student innovation, we welcome your partnership. Together, we can continue building strong STEM opportunities for our Knights.
Thank you, Heisel family, for believing in our students and their potential.

Our Jefferson Elementary third graders are getting hands-on with coding this week!
As part of Hour of Code, students in Mrs. Pulliam's library class learned the basics of programming and used those skills to guide tiny robots through a festive gingerbread maze.
Watching them test, adjust, and celebrate each successful run is what joyful learning looks like. Great job, Knights!

As temperatures drop this week, the City of Farmington has shared information about local warming shelters available to anyone who needs a safe place to stay warm.
If you or someone you know may need assistance during the upcoming cold front, please take a moment to review the shelter options and share this information with others who might benefit.
Staying informed helps keep our community safe and supported.

Our Truman Learning Center “Little Squires” teachers, Mrs. Bono and Ms. Rehkop, brought big holiday cheer while ringing the bell for the United Way of St. Francois County.
