Missouri recently adopted an approach to teaching reading that is based on the Science of Reading. The science of reading is a multidisciplinary field that explores how humans learn to read and understand written language. It looks at the brain, language, and teaching methods to understand how reading works.

Teachers across all elementary buildings recently completed the two year course for LETRS training based on the Science of Reading. This was an intense program that required many in person sessions as well as multiple modules to be completed on their own. We appreciate the hard work and dedication of these teachers.

Students from Farmington High School take their TEENS TEACH training into action by educating their peers at Farmington Middle School. They're tackling crucial topics like the effects of smoking, vaping, alcohol impacts, and how ads target teens. Join us in supporting our young leaders as they pave the way for healthier choices and informed decisions! Congratulations to Dr. Jamie LaMonds of FHS! The South East Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals honored her with the SEMoASSP School Principal of the Year Award.
