Science in Action! ❄️
In Ms. Heather Redmond’s 1st-grade class at Roosevelt Elementary, students explored the question:
🧐 "How do Arctic animals stay warm in below-freezing temperatures?"
Through a hands-on science lesson, students designed solutions by mimicking how animals use external parts to survive in extreme conditions. This engaging activity helped them understand the science behind adaptation and insulation, aligning with the 1-LS1-1 science standard:
🔬 "Use materials to design a solution to a human problem by mimicking how plants and/or animals use their external parts to help them survive, grow, and meet their needs."
💡 By experimenting, creating, and problem-solving, these young scientists gained a deeper appreciation for how nature inspires innovation!
