Students in the Principles of Banking course at Farmington High School gain real-world experience in the financial industry by working at the Black Knight Branch of First State Community Bank (FSCB)—located right inside the school!
💰 Course Highlights:
✅ Hands-on experience with banking operations
✅ Learning teller functions, deposit processing, & bookkeeping
✅ Exploring loans, investments, & the bank’s role in the community
📚 College Credit Opportunity: Students can earn three college credit hours while developing skills that prepare them for finance, business, and banking careers.

In Computer Science Principles, taught by Sarah Springstead, students take their coding skills to the next level using Python. They create apps, analyze data, and build simulations to solve real-world problems. The course encourages creativity, problem-solving, and computational thinking.

In Mr. Noblin’s Woodworking class, students gain real-world experience designing and building custom projects. From bookshelves to personalized nameplates, they develop craftsmanship, precision, and problem-solving skills.
What students learn:
✅ Safe tool operation – Proper use of hand & power tools, shop safety
✅ Measurement & precision – Accurate cutting, assembling, and finishing
✅ Woodworking techniques – Sanding, staining, and joining methods

🚀 People & Programs: The INCubatoredu Program at FHS 🚀
At Farmington High School, students in Mrs. Erica Dement’s INCubatoredu program gain real-world entrepreneurial experience, learning what it takes to build and launch a business. FHS was the first school in Missouri to offer this innovative program, giving students a unique opportunity to develop, test, and refine their startup ideas.
💡 How the Process Works:
✅ Teams pitch their startup ideas to a panel of local business professionals.
✅ Seed funding is awarded to promising ideas to develop minimum viable products (MVPs).
✅ Market testing begins, where students gather feedback and refine their business strategies.
✅ Final Pitch in May, where teams showcase their fully developed business concepts.
📚 Dual Credit Opportunity: Students earn college credit in Fundamentals of Management & Business Ethics, providing a strong foundation for future entrepreneurs and business leaders.
🔥 This program gives students hands-on experience in business development, problem-solving, and innovation—preparing them for real-world success!

In Dr. Courtney McIntyre’s PLTW Biomedical Science courses, students dive into healthcare, research, and medical innovation through hands-on experiences that prepare them for future careers in medicine and science.
🔬 Farmington High School offers all four PLTW Biomedical Science courses:
✅ Principles of Biomedical Science (PBS) – Exploring the fundamentals of health science
✅ Human Body Systems (HBS) – Investigating body structures & functions
✅ Medical Interventions (MI) – (Taught by Mrs. Sharon Reeves) Learning how to prevent, diagnose, & treat disease
✅ Biomedical Innovation (BI) – Conducting research & designing medical solutions
💉 Students are also members of HOSA—Future Healthcare Professionals and partner with the American Red Cross to host blood drives, directly impacting the community.
