Farmington Middle School is currently accepting new/gently used book donations for our "Totally Free Book Fair," which we will be having at our end-of-year Extravaganza in May. Now's the time to begin Spring cleaning and clear out your shelves, replacing books you've finished reading and would like to pass along.

This book fair will be free for students to get new-to-you books, unlike a book fair where families need to purchase books. We are accepting only appropriate materials for grades K-8.

High school - adult chapter books are not needed at this time, however we will accept cookbooks. You may drop off donations at the middle school. Donations must be in good to like-new condition.

Thank you! Any questions may be directed to the middle school librarian, Kate Dillon. kdillon@farmington.k12.mo.us

Today, we celebrate National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, and we are especially grateful for Officer Wendy Helton and the steady, caring presence she brings to our schools each day.

Officer Helton does far more than ensure safety. She builds relationships. She listens. She mentors. She helps students feel seen and supported.

And of course, she is rarely alone.

Therapy dog, Frida, works right alongside her, offering comfort during tough days, helping students regulate emotions, and bringing a little extra calm and joy into our buildings. Frida has a way of opening doors and starting conversations that might not otherwise happen.

Safety is about more than procedures. It is about connection and trust. Officer Helton models both.

As shared last week, the District has selected two additional School Resource Officers and will return to a full staffing level of three SROs beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. Until then, we are grateful for the partnership with the Farmington Police Department and the visible presence of road officers in our buildings during this transition. Community connectedness continues to make a difference.

Today, we say thank you to Officer Helton for her service, her compassion, and her commitment to our students and staff.

A superintendent search does not pause the work of our schools.

While the search is underway, current leadership remains in place, and schools continue operating as usual. Daily operations, financial planning, and oversight all continue, and the Board of Education maintains its role in governance and accountability throughout the process.

🖤💛 Farmington Sweethearts: Andrea & Kevin Hayes ('03) 💛🖤

Andrea and Kevin first met in high school through mutual friends, but their love story took time to come full circle. They’ve now been together for 6 years, married for 3, and share a beautiful family of three children.

One of their favorite high school memories comes with a soundtrack. They were supposed to go to Prom together, but ended up going with a group of friends instead. That didn’t stop Kevin from dedicating “Funkytown” to Andrea, a song he still plays just to drive her crazy to this day!

🖤💛 Farmington Sweethearts: Christie & Donald Fortune ('07 & '04) 💛🖤

Christie and Donald’s love story had a few chapters before it became forever. They first dated briefly in 2004, when Christie was a freshman and Donald a senior, then spent a couple of years as best friends before finding their way back to each other in 2006. They had health class together in Christie’s freshman year, which gave them even more time to connect.

They were married in 2016 and will celebrate their 10-year anniversary this September. Now, they’re raising two boys together. One of their favorite high school memories? Going to bonfire parties together, soaking in those classic Friday night moments.

This week, we celebrate more than achievement. We celebrate growth.

In recognition of Gifted Education Awareness Week (February 9–13), we thank the gifted students, educators, families, grandparents, and advocates across Missouri who work together to nurture potential and support lifelong learning.

We are especially grateful for Mrs. Suzanne Ross, whose dedication and care make a meaningful difference for gifted learners in our district.

🖤💛 Farmington Sweethearts: Jake & Kati Moyers ('98 & '99)💛🖤

Jake and Kati’s story is one of those meant-to-be-from-the-start kind of love stories. They first met way back in 1985 at Mother Goose Daycare, then reconnected years later in 1998 during a class in Kati’s senior year. The timing was finally right.

They’ve now been together for 27 years, married for 25, and are raising two sons, ages 16 and 10. Kati’s favorite memories from their high school sweetheart days are the simple ones: late-night phone calls, flowers on date nights, hanging out with friends, and feeling like they had the whole world figured out.

Sometimes the best love stories really do come full circle.
