Great things were happening at Farmington Middle School this week!

From building vocabulary and strengthening inferencing skills to exploring convection currents and diving into the engineering & design process, our students were actively engaged in hands-on learning.

Mr. Winder's Shield Time students in 8th grade presented on health topics at Lincoln today. Our students discussed topics including vape prevention, energy drink education and alcohol prevention. This provided an opportunity for our students to demonstrate courageous leadership and model positive behavior to younger grades.

This week we are thrilled to recognize these students! Positive Office Referrals help spread some more positive vibes around our school! First, teachers submit students who demonstrating outstanding behavior, effort, or kindness as a way to recognize and celebrate those who are consistently going above and beyond. CLUB UPDATES - NEW CLUBS ADDED! Also a few clubs have had to change days to be able to offer as many clubs as possible. See updates! Permission slips to attend AFTER SCHOOL clubs have been passed out for Drama, Board Games, Strategic Games, Trading Cards and Garden Club. Come to the library to pick up a copy of you have not gotten one. You must have a permission slip turned in to stay or you will be going home after school your normal way if there is no permission slip returned. GC Join Code: PPMFKQT Trading Card Club WHO: Mr. Naes & Mr. Cummings WHERE: Library WHEN: Informational Meeting-Friday, August 29th during Advisory in the LIBRARY First Meeting: Thursday, September 11th. We will meet every Thursday from 3:15-4:30 WHAT: We will be learning about and playing Magic: The Gathering, the Pokemon Trading Card Game, and other trading card games. This club is for new and experienced students alike! The purpose of this group is to primarily play the card games with others, but part of trading card games includes just that: trading! In an effort to make sure students are not taken advantage of by others, each trade will need to be approved by Mr. Naes or Mr. Cummings. HOW: Students join by: attending the interest meeting, completing & returning the required parent permission slip, joining the Google Classroom, and staying on Thursdays! We fish from 3:30 to 5:30 at local lakes, ponds and rivers. WHAT: In fishing club we learn fish identification, fishing techniques, fishing etiquette and how to enjoy nature. WHAT: Drama Club is for students who are interested in all things theatre! Everyone is welcome, from new theatre kids to kids who’ve been involved in theatre for years. We’ll do everything from theatre games to fun design challenges! For the first time ever there will also be an optional performance just for Middle School students! We’ll have roles for everyone, both on the stage and off. HOW: Attend meetings, join the Google Classroom, return the permission slip ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE SOMEONE TO PICK THEM UP. WHAT: In the Garden and Greenhouse Club, students will learn about and grow a variety of plants both in the outdoor garden and the indoor greenhouse. We will also help with the new pollinator garden. WHEN: Thursday September 11th will be the first meeting at 7:15 in Coach Barron’s room. We will meet every Thursday morning same time same place. WHAT: Bible club is for students who are interested in learning more about the Bible and understanding its message. We will study different parts of the Bible together throughout the year and there will also be time for students to read on their own. HOW: Attend weekly meetings.
