🎉 Last night, we wrapped up our 2024–2025 New Knights class with a special celebration!
The New Knights program is a year-long commitment to support all new certified staff members during their first year in the Farmington R-7 School District. Through five class sessions, monthly classroom visits, and countless mentoring conversations, our new teachers gained essential skills in classroom management, student assessment, working with special services students, using technology effectively, and building strong relationships with families.
This program represents a major investment of time, energy, and care — and it’s just one way our district works to ensure every new educator has the tools they need to succeed. When we support our teachers well, we support our students even better.
We are incredibly proud of our New Knights and grateful to their mentors, instructional coaches, and guest speakers who dedicated much to making this journey possible. 🖤💛
Please join us in celebrating these outstanding educators and the teamwork that helps Farmington continue to grow stronger, together!

Who’s That? Meet Joshua Wiebe!
Joshua Wiebe teaches 5th-grade Social Studies and Writing at Lincoln and brings adventure, dedication, and a true love of learning to his students daily. Originally from Pearl, Mississippi, Joshua is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and an avid section hiker on the Appalachian Trail. 🥾🌲
His adventures have taken him all over the world—from eating fried scorpions in Okinawa, Japan, to helping restore power to Al Anbar Province in Iraq by repairing the Haditha Hydro Dam.
At home, Joshua’s sidekick is Gamora, a black lab named after the Guardians of the Galaxy character. Together, they hike, camp, and occasionally defend the house from the "danger" of a ringing doorbell! 🐾
Joshua loves celebrating his family’s tradition of "birthday weeks," taking retro gaming trips, and making memories with his students, especially when he sees those “lightbulb moments” when understanding finally clicks.
Thank you, Mr. Wiebe, for your service, heart, and commitment to our students!

Who’s That? Meet Hailey Walters!
Hailey Walters is the Administrative Assistant for our Operations Department—and though she’s behind the scenes, her heart is front and center. A Park Hills native, Hailey finds joy in the little moments, like quiet weekends at home with her fiancé and two adorable pups, Piper (with a fierce face and underbite!) and Dolly Sue the basset hound. 🐾
She may be a picky eater, but she’s tried oysters—and that’s adventurous enough for her! Her favorite holiday tradition? Biscuits and gravy with Grandma every Christmas morning.
In 2021, Hailey took a lighthouse road trip across Michigan with her godmother and best friend—an experience full of memories and laughter that she hopes to recreate.
When asked what makes her work meaningful, Hailey said it best: “Sometimes kids just need someone to see them... I’m grateful I get to be a small part of their world.”
Thank you, Hailey, for bringing your heart to our district daily. 💛

Who’s That? Meet Jennifer Mattina!
Jennifer Mattina is a Kindergarten teacher at TLC who brings passion, joy, and plenty of stories to the classroom. Originally from Springfield, she now calls Farmington home—and she’s been shaping young minds in the district for years. 🍎
Before teaching, Jennifer worked at an ophthalmologist’s office, helping patients examine their eyes and choose glasses. She’s more into coins than contacts these days—she collects rare quarters and raises chickens who love mealworms and watermelon! 🐓
Jennifer loves time with her family, especially visiting grandparents during the holidays or relaxing in a treehouse on an anniversary getaway. She’s also the proud owner of Sadie, a blue heeler who’s the “best dog ever.” 🐶
One of her favorite parts of teaching is seeing former students, sometimes a decade or more later, stop by and say, “Do you remember me?” That full-circle moment never gets old.
Thank you, Jennifer, for your dedication and the heart you bring to our students!
