Farmington High School is keeping learning fun this summer!
Students in physical education are staying active while learning how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and students taking personal finance are learning about creating and managing a budget/handling money.
FHS is prioritizing learning and engagement!

Meet Madelynn W!
Mady is completing her Latin Honors student internship this summer with our Director of Communications. She’s getting a behind-the-scenes look at the many ways we communicate and is helping share our summer school stories with the community. Over the next few weeks, she will be contributing to our social media and website as a moderated user. We can’t wait to see the great work she’ll help us share with the community. Welcome Madelyn! #StrongSchools #StrongCommunity #StudentVoice

Big thanks to Loving Jefferson and Open Heart Assembly! ❤️🍎
Yesterday afternoon, every student in grades 2 through 4 enrolled in summer school received a food bag, thanks to a generous food grant secured by the Loving Jefferson outreach team from Open Heart Assembly. Their continued support helps ensure our students have what they need, even when school’s out.
We are so grateful for their heart for our kids and community! #StrongSchoolsStrongCommunity #FSDKnights

Yesterday, students in our middle school program had the opportunity to visit the Missouri Mines State Historic Site in Park Hills, thanks to a Missouri State Parks Bus Grant that provided free transportation to and from the site. We’re grateful to @MoStateParks and the knowledgeable staff—Maddie, Gabrielle, Lily, and Daisy—for leading an engaging and educational experience.
Students explored the environmental history of the region and gained a deeper understanding of how lead mining has impacted the local ecosystem. In the afternoon, they hiked the trail around the site and were excited to spot a wild turkey along the way!
This experience supports our commitment to providing hands-on, real-world learning opportunities that connect classroom concepts with our region’s unique history and environment.

🐷⚖️ The Case of the Big Bad Wolf... in Court! 🐺
Today, our 4th-grade summer school students stepped into the shoes of attorneys, witnesses, and jurors during a mock trial at the St. Francois County Courthouse! The courtroom drama featured none other than the Big Bad Wolf and the Three Little Pigs. The Big Bad Wolf was on trial for eating two of the three pigs!
This hands-on experience provided students with the opportunity to learn how the legal system operates—from courtroom procedures to persuasive speaking and critical thinking. They not only witnessed justice in action but also practiced collaboration, active listening, and civic engagement.
A huge thank you to Judge Murray and our local courthouse staff for making learning come alive in such a memorable way! 🏛️👏
