Look at this 2nd grade class working on engineering their own boat! ⛵️ They had to create a boat, with supplies provided, that could float for at least 10 seconds. 🌊
After trying out their boats each group was able to redesign their boat to make it float better. 🚤

Some of our students took their learning outside today to build addition and subtraction fluency using chalk. Finding fun, hands-on ways to master those core math skills makes practice feel like play! 🌿✏️

Hands-on learning at its finest! 📚 Our future engineers took on the ultimate STEM challenge: designing a sketch on paper and bringing it to life with a structure strong enough to hold up a book.
From pencil drawings to freestanding towers, seeing their problem-solving skills and creativity in action was incredible. Little engineers in the making! 💡✨

The first challenge is for all classes. Which class will have the highest attendance percentage for the month of October?

Reminder of our Spirit Days this week! Participation is not required.
There is no school for nearly all students today, so enjoy your well-deserved day off!
The PM Pre-K WILL be in session today though.
Meanwhile, our staff is spending the day engaging in professional development to enhance learning for our students.
Just a friendly reminder today is our first monthly after school club day. If your child was accepted to a club for this semester a letter was sent home last week. Club pick up will promptly begin at 4:15 at the main front entrance. Parents will need their ID and Kid Account card. Parents may wait outside under the front entrance awning.
What a fantastic day launching Cohort 3 of Black Knight Insight!
We loved taking our community members behind the scenes today to give them a firsthand look at how our schools operate, grow, and inspire students every single day. There was plenty of time spent in various classrooms from kindergarten through 6th grade. Here is a look at where our journey took us:
Truman Learning Center: Explored early childhood development insights with Ashley Bono from Parents as Teachers, plus an inside look at Kindergarten instruction.
Washington-Franklin Elementary: Walked over to dive into classroom instruction and learned how Rachel Armstrong guides our students in Digital Citizenship.
Jefferson Elementary: Took a school bus ride over to learn about the incredible impact of our Title I Intervention programs.
Lincoln Intermediate: Enjoyed a delicious Chick-fil-A box lunch while sitting right alongside our 5th and 6th graders to chat about their experiences during these important transition years.
Roosevelt Elementary: Finished our day exploring the vibrant world of Elementary Elective Classes.
Thank you to all of our community participants for spending your day with us, asking great questions, and seeing the heart of our district in action. We are so proud to share the work our teachers, staff and students do every day!💛⚔️🖤
