An FSD leadership team, including Superintendent Dr. Kyle Gibbs and Director of Safety Mr. John Krause, recently attended the Behavioral Risk Assessment Summit in Columbia, Missouri. This event, a collaborative initiative by the FBI and the Missouri School Boards Association’s (MSBA) Center for Education Safety, aimed to advance school safety through effective behavioral risk assessments.

Under the direction of Safety Director Mr. John Krause, the Farmington R-7 School District began implementing behavioral risk assessment training for its specialized teams in 2015, supported by a comprehensive policy adopted on November 16, 2021. This policy establishes a clear protocol for identifying and mitigating potential threats, emphasizing the district's proactive stance on school safety.

The summit provided an essential platform for validation and learning, allowing the Farmington team to engage in expert-led discussions on school violence prevention. Keynote speakers like John McDonald of MSBA and nationally known safety psychology specialist John Nicoletti shared critical insights, reinforcing the district's current practices and suggesting areas for improvement.

Farmington R-7’s participation in the summit underscores its dedication to maintaining a safe, educational environment. By aligning with the latest safety strategies and engaging in ongoing learning, the district continues to lead by example in safeguarding its students and staff.
