Welcome to Ms. Weeks' ELA II & Creative Writing classes!
In my classes this year, we will be reading, writing, discussing, and presenting on a number of topics, with a focus on world literature in ELA 2 and on creative creation of original works of writing in Creative Writing. Together, we’ll work on strategies to develop students' skills as readers, writers, communicators, and critical thinkers.
This is my twenty-eighth year teaching English, but it's my first year at Farmington High School. Ever since I was a middle school student, I dreamed of being a teacher. My passion is teaching, and I truly love working with high school students. I majored in Literature & Language in my undergraduate work at Webster University. After earning my Bachelors degree, and starting my career, I developed an interest in the craft of instruction and the skill of writing curriculum, so I returned to school and earned my Masters Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Drury University.
When I'm not at school, I'm spending time with my wonderful father, my amazing sister, and her two adult children. If I'm not with my family, I'm generally hiking in the forest somewhere. I am certified in Search and Rescue and have a specialized interest in mantracking. Currently, I'm working on my next level of certification as a tracker. In addition, I'm a nationally licensed EMT and enjoy the medical field and the aspect of first response. When there's downtime, I enjoy following NCAA football, playing with my two mini-schnauzers, and reading a great book.
I look forward to getting to know my students and their families this year!
